jail. They pay FULL hosipital, out of pocket expense & to the injured.no
loss of functions..$10,000 & 50,000 to the state. Loss of life. 10 Years,

ENFORCE the laws & you have a deterrant. Paris Hilton is just the example
of why people think they can get away with a slap on the hand.

I am a more lenient judge. sexypoohbie Registered User He definately has to pay restitution for the damaged utility pole (public Joined: Thursday, 17th of June 2010, 04:42:44 property), & clean up (truck content) service. Posts: 1206 Viewed 11018 times Address the problem of why was he drinking & driving. Restrict or prohibit
him from drinking. Weekly report to police station for soberity test.
Direct him on a better life path.
Revoking is driving license is a bad idea. Maybe he needs it to make a
living & support family as a delivery boy?
Sending to jail only cost country more tax dolars.

Jellybelly

I was almost killed in a car accident caused by a drunk driver Jellybelly who blew .20. He was going about 65-70mph before he hit me on my door of Registered User my eclipse (he was in a Toyota truck). He was convicted of Intoxication Joined: Saturday, 12th of June 2010, 09:18:24 Assault (3rd degree felony in Texas) & was sentence to 5 years, probated Posts: 669 for 7 years AND the jury found that he used his vehicle as a deadly Viewed 13628 times weapon. Because of that, if he ever revoked his probation, the judge
could send him to prison where he would have to serve a minimum of 1/2 he
sentence (2.5 years). As a victim, I thought that this was fair. He
screwed up & I believe that the punishment fit the crime. Now, I sat in
on a trial where a girl was killed & the drunk driver that hit her only
got 5 years in prison. IMHO, that wasn't enough.
In ur situation, THANK GOD everything turned out okay. I would definitely
press charges against him for property damage & make sure that the District
Attorney knows that he potentially endangered lives.

Panda Pop

I don't think the laws are harsh enough to DETER people from Panda Pop making the decision to drink & then drive. For a first time offense with Registered User no injuries or even damage to property, the guilty party should have Joined: Friday, 23rd of April 2010, 08:34:02 mandatory jail time of 2-3 months, license revoked for a year, a mandatory Posts: 1850 $5,000 fine, then mandatory entry into a rehabilitation center for 60 days, Viewed 5746 times then mandatory AA/NA meetings for five years with random UA's, on parole
for five years; a certain number of testimonial speaking engagements at
schools & jails & rehabilitation centers, & anything else we can think of.
The consequences really need to hit people where it hurts. The consequences
I have listed hurt their pocketbooks with a huge fine, rehab, hindering
their ability to work, paying for random UA's, & paying for meetings;
psychological consequences of spending time in jail; humility in having to
speak to others about their experience; & knowing their consequences would
not end for at least 5 years with NA/AA classes & parole. The laws need to
DETER people from drinking & driving. If everyone knew up front exactly
what was going to happen to them, I believe there would be less drunk
driving. As it is now, some people get off & some really get the book
thrown at them. I believe this inconsistency inspires the behavior to
continue. Currently, people are willing to take the risk hoping if they
get caught they will be lucky & get a break.

have their arms removed so they cannot drive again. Forgive me if I sound
